Tourism in kashmir
Hiuen tsang, the well known chinese pilgrim, who travelled through India and central Asia for sixteen years in the 7th century AD was captivated by the Lovely valley to spend Two years here.
Ou-kung was the next chinese traveller to visit the valley in 759 AD and to stay on for four years.
The first European to visit Ladakh was the Jesuit father, Hippalytem resederi in 1715 AD, who left a detailed account of the places he visited.

1). Srinagar :-
Srinagar is called the ' venice of the East ' known for its Lakes which Dal lakes, 8 km long and 6 km wide lake known for its Floating islands (sone lank) and (Rupa lank) and houseboats. Srinagar is famous all over the world for its Mughal Gardens . Places which you should visit in Srinagar.

NISHAT GARDEN :- this Garden was built by asif khan 1633 who was the brother in law of Mughal emperor Jahangir, brother of Noor jahan. It is the largest mughal Garden in the UT of jammu and kashmir.

SHALIMAAR GARDEN:- shalimaar Garden was built by Jahangir in 1619 for his wife Noor Jahan.

Chasma shahi :- Royal spring, this Garden was built by Atta Mohammad khan Mughal Governor commissioned by Shah jahan for his elder son Dara sikho.

Naseem Bagh:- this is the oldest Mughal Garden in kashmir which was built by Akbar in 1586. Over 1200 chinaar trees were planted in this Garden by Shah jahan in 1686.

Tulip Garden :- this Garden was once called Model Floriculture Center. It was opened in 2007 by Ghulam Nabi Azad.
The Sher Garhi palace houses administrative buildings from the state goverment. Another Palace of the Maharajas, The Gulab Bhawan, has now become the Lalit Grand palace hotel.

2). Harwan
Harwan is the huge Garden fringe with beds of flowers and big chinar trees with a beautiful canal flowing right through the middle . A beautiful lake which lies behind the Garden fed this cannal. There is not much clutter of fountains and other fancy things but vast green carpeted lawns which formed an ideal spot for picnics. This spot is very popular with the locals of kashmir they came here for picnics and excursions.

3). Martand Sun Temple :-
The Martand Sun temple is a hindu temple in the district Anantnag of UT of Jammu and kashmir, the temple was build in 8th century and was dedicated to Surya (Sun God) . The teme is Now in ruins . The temple is located five miles from Anantnag in the Indian UT of Jammu and kashmir. The martand sun temple was built by the third king of the Karkota dynasty, Lalitaditya Muktapida, in the 8th century, with some attributing the construction of the temple to have began with Ranaditya.
The temple was completely destroyed on the orders of Sikandar in the early 15th century, with demolition lasting a year.

4). Sonamarg :
(Meadow of Gold ) Sonamarg is located in District Ganderbal a hill station in the UT of jammu and kashmir. In its located in the great Himalayan Glaciers of kashmir valley namely kalhoi Glacier and Machoi Glacier. Sonamarg an alpine valley is situated at the bank of Nallah sindh, Largest tributary of Ladakh. Sonamarg had historical significance and it was a gateway on ancient Silk Road along with Gilgit connecting kashmir with China and other Gulf countries in ancient times. The zojila pass lies 15 kilo metres east and is one of the highest passes for road transport.

5).Gulmarg :-
(Meadow of Flowers) Gulmarg is a town, a hill station, a popular sking destination and a notified area committe in Baramulla District in the UT of jammu and Kashmir. The town is situated in the pir panjal Range in the western the Himalayas and is within miles of the line of control between Indian And Pakistan. Gulmarg Originally named as Gaurimarg (the fair one) by the shepherds in honour of the hindu Godess Parvati, the resort was renamed Gulmarg (meadow of flowers) by Sultan Yousuf Shah of the chak Dynasty who frequented the place with his mistress Habba Khatoon (nighting gale of kashmir) in the 18th century. In 1927, British established a ski Club in Gulmarg and two annual ski events were hosted on each during christmas and Easter. . In 1948, Indian Army established a ski school in Gulmarg which Later became the high Altitude welfare of the indian Army specialising in snow craft and winter warfare. The Department of Tourism of govt. Of india invited Rudy matt. In 1960 to select a suitable location for winter sports in india. In 1968 institute of sking and Mountaineering was established in Gulmarg to train ski instructers. The khelo India winter games 2021 are going to be hosted in Gulmarg .
